About the brand
I’m Kevin Snead, Founder and CEO of Thee Sparrow. I’m incredibly proud to launch this company, which was founded in the deep malady of my life story.
My life story includes…the pain of a broken family, abandonment by my father, living in the ghetto and being homeless, sleeping in cars and outdoors in parks. I started my high school career at Highland Springs High in Richmond, VA, while living in the Hilliard House shelter. I had no confidence or self-worth. I was a social outcast, often sitting alone during lunch with no friends to talk with. Devoid of any recognition or popularity, I felt invisible. I felt like no one cared about me, and I was terrified of what kids would say if they knew I lived in a shelter.
I went through my early adulthood years filled with resentment and hatred for my father, yet I walked in his footsteps by creating a broken family of my own in 2010. I felt deep shame for resembling my father’s life, which led me to emotionally withdraw and hurt the phenomenal mother of my now 14-year-old daughter.
Every facet of my story has led to this point. You may ask, “Why ‘Thee Sparrow’?”
A sparrow may not have the glory and majesty of an eagle, but it possesses something far superior. In God’s eyes, something seemingly insignificant, such as a sparrow, is regarded with thoughtfulness and care. If the sparrow has value, how much more value do you and I have in God’s eyes?
God restored my dignity, value, and worth and led me to discover who I truly am in Him. You, too, are valuable and worthy!
Thee Sparrow’s purpose is to primarily (but not exclusively) empower men and boys to discover their value and become the highest version of themselves. Our inaugural event was a program for boys aged 12-17 during Spring Break 2024. The next program date will be August 3rd.
Additionally, I’ll resume my 7-year volunteer career in juvenile detention, where I’ll pour into the youth there under the umbrella of Thee Sparrow. Something transformative and special is going to happen as more people discover their value and become who God made them to be! Thee Sparrow is currently building a team of volunteers to put this mission into action—will you join me?
